Mark: Hi, it’s Mark from Top Local, we’re here with Adam Wicks of Wick Electric in Vancouver. They are the highest rated electrical contractor in Vancouver. Pretty prestigious stuff and also they’re also selected by Tesla as their number one installer for charging stations in Vancouver. How’re you doing Adam?
Adam: I’m doing well Mark, thank you for that introduction, appreciate it.
Mark: You’re welcome. You guys have earned every bit of it. So we’re got a bit of a story of a commercial renovation today, what was going on with this one?
Adam: Yeah, absolutely, so as well as residential, we tackle a lot of commercial projects. So on this specific job, we had a contractor who had a price from another local electrical contractor which seemed a little high so he came to us. We were able to provide a quote within a few days of his requested time and about a week later had accepted it and we were on the job. So this is a spot in Gastown called the Hifi Centre, I believe they used to be on Seymour a couple years back but they relocated. So what we ran into here was we had a huge six, seven thousand square foot commercial space, it was gutted, there was just two by fours and concrete, and basically our job was to come in and help with some lighting design and layout, as well as a vast amount of other wiring and essentially get the place to where they had it on the Seymour location.
Mark: So do you have any pictures you can show us and maybe just walk us through what you guys did?
Adam: Exactly, so I do have a picture here that I’m going to put on the screen, what we’re looking at now is the finished product. So essentially for these kinds of jobs, we take care of the lighting, you can see a vast amount of, there are track lights, there’s pendant lights, there’s pot lights, there’s a whole lot of LED strip lighting that you don’t notice right away, but if you look at the nooks and crannies of the supplies and products that it is there. In this specific job, we also did a lot of low voltage wiring, so we have tel and cablevision as well they’re not in this picture, no there actually is one in there behind that centre pendant there is a TV wall mount, where it’s an HDMI wiring. As well as you’ll see some exit signs, some emergency lights, some security cameras, even the ventilators you see in the ceiling, those needed electrical wiring as well. So at first glance it looks like a good amount of lighting, but there’s also a ton of other electrical aspects to these projects, specifically in commercial. So it was a great job, we love these kinds of jobs, we pride ourselves on doing a good mix of residential and commercial and these are the kinds of commercial projects that we take care of when we’re on these commercial jobs.
Mark: So you’re doing a full range of communication infrastructure as well as electrical kind of getting the lights to turn on and off.
Adam: Yes exactly, so some electrical contractors will stick to the power and lighting, but we do the full scope, from the power, lighting, the low voltage, communications, the TV, the security wiring, the exit wiring, all the above, everything you need, so everything is there in one nice package for you.
